From The Chief Editor's Desk...

Here in the U.S., as the calendar turns over to November, thoughts about the Thanksgiving holiday move to the forefront of our collective consciousness. It is also customary to express our gratitude and thanks for the things in our lives that we perceive to be good. As such, I'll attempt to do something similar.

Paul, Lexi, and Ryan

I am thankful, first and foremost, for my wife and kids, and the family my wife and I have created.

I am thankful for my relatively good health.

I am thankful for the home that we have made.

I am thankful for being able to have retired when I did (at the end of 2022), and to be able to be home every day when my kids come home from school.

I am thankful for all of the friends I have made throughout the course of my life. Each friendship delivers unique traits that enhance my own life.

I am thankful for having discovered PCLinuxOS, and for Texstar and all of the others who keep PCLinuxOS running like a well-oiled machine. I am also thankful for the family that I have become a part of, a family of PCLinuxOS users from all corners of the world.

I am thankful for Meemaw and tbs, whom without, this publication would not exist, at least in the manner in which it currently exists. We make a pretty good team (in my honest opinion). Meemaw has been a rock by my side for much of the time that I’ve been the magazine’s Chief Editor. And, the HTML and eBook versions of the magazine are expertly handled by tbs. You guys are the best!

This month’s cover image commemorates the discovery of X-rays on November 8, 1895 by German physicist Wilhelm Roentgen, even though it was done completely by accident. According to an article from The Conversation, he was doing an experiment and was surprised when a screen on the other side of the lab glowed. Wilhelm worked out that some invisible rays were causing it but had no idea what they were. That is why they’re called x-rays, with “x” meaning “I don’t know”! The image was created with Bing Image Creator.

Until next month, I bid you peace, happiness, serenity, prosperity, and continued good health!
